CFPUD – Trash and Recycling Update

Texas Pride Disposal completed the delivery of their new recycle carts to the CFPUD residents on Sunday, July 12. They provided backdoor trash service on Tuesday, July 14, and will provide backdoor trash and recycle service on Friday. Contact their Customer Service group if there are any issues with not receiving a cart, etc. – or if there are any start-up questions or issues. They can be reached via their website (www.texaspridedisposal.com/CFPUD or service@texaspridedisposal.com), or at (281) 342-8178.

WCA has completed the picked-up their recycle carts. Most of the carts have been removed, but there are a few carts remaining at some homes. WCA informed us Monday night that they are not returning to pick-up any carts that may have been missed. If you want those carts (Royal and WCA) removed, contact Texas Pride Disposal Customer Service and they will assist you.

The lid on the new recycle cart says to place it curbside. That does not apply to our district. We have contracted for backdoor service and Texas Pride will collect recycle (and household trash) backdoor. They do want it visible from the curb so their crews can easily find it.

CFPUD – Recycle Cart Swap

The transition to Texas Pride Disposal is well underway. Details for the transition and the new provider are on the CFPUD Website: (www.cyforestpud.com).

The swapping out from WCA recycle carts to Texas Pride carts is underway, but not yet complete. Texas Pride delivered their new carts to many residents today, and will finish the distribution to the entire district tomorrow (Sunday, July 12).

WCA is still in the process of collecting all of their carts (WCA and Royal). They began the process on Friday, and as previously reported, they extended the process through today. Unfortunately, after collecting carts in only a portion of our District today, WCA informed us that they are not able finish the operation by this weekend as promised. They stated the remaining carts will be collected on Monday and have requested that our residents leave them out by the curb. Please comply with their request. There are some recycle carts that have not been brought down to the curb, so there is some extra time to do so. We will continue to diligently monitor WCA until they complete the task.

To recap: WCA’s last day of service was July 10. They plan to pick up the rest of their recycle carts on Monday. Texas Pride will complete the delivery of their new recycle carts on Sunday, July 12 (at the end of the driveway). Texas Pride will provide our customary backdoor service starting July 14.

We apologize for WCA’s delay in removing their carts, and look forward to Texas Pride Disposal taking over trash collection this Tuesday. We thank you for your patience during this transition.

CFPUD Trash/Recycling Transition – Recycle Carts

The transition to Texas Pride Disposal was communicated yesterday via an alert. Details are on the CFPUD Website: (www.cyforestpud.com). There are two revisions to the plan for swapping out the recycle carts.

WCA just informed us that they want to “make sure that residents leave WCA recycling carts out through Saturday.”

Texas Pride says that the delivery of their new carts was delayed, so they will be delivering them on Saturday (and Sunday if needed).

To recap: WCA’s last day of service is July 10. They plan to pick up their recycle carts no later than Saturday. Texas Pride will be delivering new recycle carts on Saturday July 11 (at the end of the driveway). Texas Pride will provide our customary backdoor service starting July 14.

We appreciate everyone’s patience during this transition.

CFPUD Trash/Recycling Service – New Contractor Starting July 14

Texas Pride Disposal is the new trash/recycle collection company for the district, effective July 14. They will be delivering new recycle bins on July 10 or July 11 (at the end of the driveway). WCA’s last day of service is July 10, and they plan to pick up their recycle bins (labeled WCA and/or Royal with the yellow lid) on that day. If you have a driveway gate, please make sure the recycle bins are placed outside of it so WCA can access them.

Texas Pride will provide our customary backdoor trash service on Tuesdays and Fridays, starting July 14, and will collect recyclables backdoor on Fridays. The welcome letter from Texas Pride (with service and contact details), is attached. The Texas Pride Disposal website (www.texaspridedisposal.com/CFPUD) also has information related to our service.

We appreciate everyone’s patience during the transition, and are very pleased to have Texas Pride Disposal as our new partner.

CFPUD Trash Collection – WCA Modified Service June 16

CFPUD’s current trash contractor, WCA, has provided an update as to how they will service our district due to the COVID-19 situation, effective June 16. The update can be found on their website: wcawaste.com/covid-19-houston, and also on the CFPUD website: cyforestpud.com. Starting with the June 16 service they will:

  1. Resume backdoor service for household trash on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  2. Resume backdoor recycle collection on Fridays. .
  3. Limit yard/bulk collection at the curb to two waste items.

Their update states that “As a reminder, due to COVID-19, please make sure all your trash/refuse is bagged and sealed, and wherever possible, placed in containers. Loose items will not be collected.” WCA’s Sales Representative for our district, Anne Wilhite ((713) 539-9075 or awilhite@wcamerica.com), further states that “Only two items outside the carts or cans will be picked up.” Feel free to contact WCA directly if needed, especially for missed pickups.

As communicated earlier, the PUD Board has formally approved Texas Pride Disposal as the new trash hauler for the district. They plan to be in position to provide full backdoor and recycle service for us no later than mid July.

We appreciate everyone’s continued patience with the recent service. We will continue to communicate to you any changes as they occur.

CF PUD Trash Collection – Limited Service on June 12

As communicated previously, CFPUD’s current trash contractor, WCA, is limiting service due to COVID-19 quarantines of many crew members.  Their service this Friday, June 12, will again be limited to only curbside pickup of household trash.  Yard waste will be picked up next Tuesday, June 16, as part of WCA’s regular service.

WCA indicates that they will be back to full service next week, with Tuesday and Friday backdoor service and Friday recycle pickup.

The PUD Board held a special meeting on June 10 to formally approve Texas Pride Disposal as the new trash hauler for the district. They have provided emergency service for us already, and will continue to do so if necessary.  They plan to be in position to provide full service for us no later than mid July.   As our new contractor they will then provide our customary backdoor service on Tuesday and Friday (with recycle on Friday).

We appreciate everyone’s continued patience with the recent limited service, and are enthusiastic to have our new provider, Texas Pride Disposal on board to service our district going forward.

CFPUD

CF PUD Trash Service – Cleanup Run on June 10

WCA, CFPUD’s current trash contractor, serviced the district today, but only picked up household trash as they had promised (due to being shorthanded due to COVID-19 quarantines.) It appears that they missed a few areas completely, and obviously left behind yard waste, etc.

The PUD Board took emergency action on Monday and had Texas Pride Disposal complete a cleanup service. The district looks much better than it did on Sunday, but there are still some areas of concern. The PUD has arranged for Texas Pride to make another cleanup run on Wednesday, June 10. They will go through the entire district to pick up all trash that is at the curb. They plan to start at 7:00 am on Wednesday.

WCA indicates that they will service as scheduled this Friday, but service will again be limited to only curbside pickup of household trash.

We again thank Texas Pride Disposal for their help and appreciate everyone’s continued patience.

CF PUD Trash Service Update June 8

WCA, CFPUD’s current trash contractor, sent several crews out on Sunday. However, they did not complete the entire area because they filled all of the trucks that they sent out. Consequently some areas had only the bins emptied (yard waste left behind), and some areas were not serviced at all. WCA informed us this morning that they will service our area tomorrow, but will only pickup household trash at the curb (no yard waste).

The PUD Board has taken emergency action to provide a “clean up the trash at the curb”” service this afternoon. Texas Pride Disposal will send out crews to service the areas that were not serviced yesterday. Texas Pride will be our contractor going forward after a contract is signed and a transition is completed. It usually takes months to make a transition, but they are responding on a few hours notice and have taken extraordinary action in order to help us with our current situation.

We thank Texas Pride Disposal and appreciate everyone’s patience

CFPUD WCA Trash Service – Sunday June 7

WCA, CFPUD’s contractor for trash service, informed us earlier this week that several of their drivers are on COVID-19 quarantine. They are implementing several temporary changes to our trash service. They were unable to provide service on Tuesday, and then postponed Friday’s service to Saturday. Late Thursday they postponed it again to Sunday. Their current plan is as follows:

  1. Trash pickup for this week will be on Sunday, June 7 (no service this Friday or Saturday). This will be limited to curbside only (no backdoor service), and for only household trash and yard waste. There will be no recycle or bulk (large items) pickup.
  2. WCA will resume a Tuesday and Friday schedule next week (June 9), but will be limited to curbside pickup for only household trash and yard waste. (No backdoor).
  3. Recycle and bulk pickup and backdoor service are tentatively scheduled to resume in mid June.

Additional details, including the notice from WCA, can be found on the Cypress Forest PUD website: cyforestpud.com.

We are working closely with our current contractor to get through this situation, and are taking additional action to provide consistent quality service on an ongoing basis. The district’s contract for trash collection is up for renewal.  After reviewing several proposals, we are proceeding to award the new contract to Texas Pride Disposal. Pending final contract review and approval, the conversion should take place in late July. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience.

Regards,

Cypress Forest PUD
