CFPUD Trash Collection – WCA Modified Service June 16

CFPUD’s current trash contractor, WCA, has provided an update as to how they will service our district due to the COVID-19 situation, effective June 16. The update can be found on their website: wcawaste.com/covid-19-houston, and also on the CFPUD website: cyforestpud.com. Starting with the June 16 service they will:

  1. Resume backdoor service for household trash on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  2. Resume backdoor recycle collection on Fridays. .
  3. Limit yard/bulk collection at the curb to two waste items.

Their update states that “As a reminder, due to COVID-19, please make sure all your trash/refuse is bagged and sealed, and wherever possible, placed in containers. Loose items will not be collected.” WCA’s Sales Representative for our district, Anne Wilhite ((713) 539-9075 or awilhite@wcamerica.com), further states that “Only two items outside the carts or cans will be picked up.” Feel free to contact WCA directly if needed, especially for missed pickups.

As communicated earlier, the PUD Board has formally approved Texas Pride Disposal as the new trash hauler for the district. They plan to be in position to provide full backdoor and recycle service for us no later than mid July.

We appreciate everyone’s continued patience with the recent service. We will continue to communicate to you any changes as they occur.

CF PUD Trash Collection – Limited Service on June 12

As communicated previously, CFPUD’s current trash contractor, WCA, is limiting service due to COVID-19 quarantines of many crew members.  Their service this Friday, June 12, will again be limited to only curbside pickup of household trash.  Yard waste will be picked up next Tuesday, June 16, as part of WCA’s regular service.

WCA indicates that they will be back to full service next week, with Tuesday and Friday backdoor service and Friday recycle pickup.

The PUD Board held a special meeting on June 10 to formally approve Texas Pride Disposal as the new trash hauler for the district. They have provided emergency service for us already, and will continue to do so if necessary.  They plan to be in position to provide full service for us no later than mid July.   As our new contractor they will then provide our customary backdoor service on Tuesday and Friday (with recycle on Friday).

We appreciate everyone’s continued patience with the recent limited service, and are enthusiastic to have our new provider, Texas Pride Disposal on board to service our district going forward.

CF PUD Trash Service – Cleanup Run on June 10

WCA, CFPUD’s current trash contractor, serviced the district today, but only picked up household trash as they had promised (due to being shorthanded due to COVID-19 quarantines.) It appears that they missed a few areas completely, and obviously left behind yard waste, etc.

The PUD Board took emergency action on Monday and had Texas Pride Disposal complete a cleanup service. The district looks much better than it did on Sunday, but there are still some areas of concern. The PUD has arranged for Texas Pride to make another cleanup run on Wednesday, June 10. They will go through the entire district to pick up all trash that is at the curb. They plan to start at 7:00 am on Wednesday.

WCA indicates that they will service as scheduled this Friday, but service will again be limited to only curbside pickup of household trash.

We again thank Texas Pride Disposal for their help and appreciate everyone’s continued patience.

CF PUD Trash Service Update June 8

WCA, CFPUD’s current trash contractor, sent several crews out on Sunday. However, they did not complete the entire area because they filled all of the trucks that they sent out. Consequently some areas had only the bins emptied (yard waste left behind), and some areas were not serviced at all. WCA informed us this morning that they will service our area tomorrow, but will only pickup household trash at the curb (no yard waste).

The PUD Board has taken emergency action to provide a “clean up the trash at the curb”” service this afternoon. Texas Pride Disposal will send out crews to service the areas that were not serviced yesterday. Texas Pride will be our contractor going forward after a contract is signed and a transition is completed. It usually takes months to make a transition, but they are responding on a few hours notice and have taken extraordinary action in order to help us with our current situation.

We thank Texas Pride Disposal and appreciate everyone’s patience

CFPUD WCA Trash Service – Sunday June 7

WCA, CFPUD’s contractor for trash service, informed us earlier this week that several of their drivers are on COVID-19 quarantine. They are implementing several temporary changes to our trash service. They were unable to provide service on Tuesday, and then postponed Friday’s service to Saturday. Late Thursday they postponed it again to Sunday. Their current plan is as follows:

  1. Trash pickup for this week will be on Sunday, June 7 (no service this Friday or Saturday). This will be limited to curbside only (no backdoor service), and for only household trash and yard waste. There will be no recycle or bulk (large items) pickup.
  2. WCA will resume a Tuesday and Friday schedule next week (June 9), but will be limited to curbside pickup for only household trash and yard waste. (No backdoor).
  3. Recycle and bulk pickup and backdoor service are tentatively scheduled to resume in mid June.

Additional details, including the notice from WCA, can be found on the Cypress Forest PUD website: cyforestpud.com.

We are working closely with our current contractor to get through this situation, and are taking additional action to provide consistent quality service on an ongoing basis. The district’s contract for trash collection is up for renewal.  After reviewing several proposals, we are proceeding to award the new contract to Texas Pride Disposal. Pending final contract review and approval, the conversion should take place in late July. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience.

CFPUD WCA Trash Service – Temporary Changes

CFPUD received an alert from our contractor WCA on March 31. On March 30, WCA learned that one of their drivers had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The driver did not serve the CFPUD community – he was employed at a different yard. However for precautionary purposes, 4 other drivers plus helpers who have been in close contact with this driver have been quarantined. In their absence, remaining crew members will need to cover larger areas.

Consequently, WCA is making some temporary changes to their service starting April 3:

  1. There will be no recycle pickup.
  2. Back door service is suspended – all trash must be at the curb.
  3. There are no changes or limits to yard and bulk waste.

For further information go to the CFPUD website https://www.cyforestpud.com/

Let us hope that WCA’s employees are healthy and can soon return to normal operations.

Regards,

Cypress Forest PUD
