Texas Pride observes two (2) holidays that impact us:

If your regularly scheduled pickup day does not fall on a holiday, you will receive pickups during the holiday week on your regular days.

Collection Guidelines

Follow the collection guidelines below to ensure your waste is collected safely and efficiently each service day, and to minimize the time that any trash is curbside.

Household Trash (Backdoor)
  • Place garbage in personal cans between 20 and 95 gallons or bags weighing less than 50 pounds.
  • Place trash in a bag before depositing into your trash can.
  • It is not necessary to pull the containers down to the curb.
  • Garbage should be placed in a location between the street and garage, preferably near the garage and visible from the curb. Those with driveway gates need to place containers outside closed gates to ensure collection.
  • Emptied containers will be returned to where the crew finds them.
  • Trash should not be placed in any container or cart that is labeled recycle.
Yard Waste (Curbside)
  • Yard waste should be placed curbside.
  • Place grass clippings in cans or bags under 50 pounds.
  • Branches should be placed in CLEAR, INDIVIDUAL piles measuring no larger than 3′ x 3′ x 3′, or tied and bundled and under 50 pounds.  Limit eight bundles per service day.
  • Yard waste should be brought to the curb no earlier than the evening before service and no later than 7:00am on the day of service.

Acceptable placement of branches: individual piles that crews can wrap their arms around to load easily.

Unacceptable placement of branches: piles are larger than allowed and not tied and bundled.

Bulk (Heavy) Trash (Curbside)
  • Two heavy items collected curbside every service day. If you have a larger than usual amount of waste, see the information in the section below for options on how to dispose of it.
  • Bulk items should be brought to the curb no earlier than the evening before service and no later than 7:00am on the day of service.
  • Heavy trash/bulk waste includes waste that is not generated on a regular basis, including:
    • Furniture (couch, table, mattress, box spring, desk, dresser, etc.)
    • Appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc.)
    • Hot Water Heaters
    • Fencing/Decking/Siding (please remove nails, cut into lengths 4′ or less, and tie and bundle under 50 pounds, limit eight bundles per service day)
    • Trampolines (broken down, please place metal with recycling if possible)
    • Basketball goals (broken down into sections 4′ or shorter, no concrete in base or poles). Carpeting/Flooring (please cut into lengths 4’ or shorter and tie and bundle under 50 pounds).
Excess Volume and Items Not Accepted for Regular Collection

If you have a larger than usual amount of household waste, bulk waste, or yard waste, contact Texas Pride in advance and they can provide you with a quote for disposal or direct you to resources that can properly assist your disposal needs.  The following items can also be collected for a negotiated price.

  • Dirt
  • Waste generated by a private contractor (remodeling, landscaping)
  • Rocks
  • Motor Oil
  • Pesticides/Insecticides
  • Gasoline/Kerosene
  • Bricks
  • Tile
  • Batteries
  • Paint (liquid)
  • Concrete
  • Tires

Household Hazardous Waste

If trying to dispose of hard-to-handle items such as fuels, oils, and chemicals independently, contact your Harris County hazardous waste facility: (281) 560-6200 – 6900 Hahl Rd., Houston, TX 77040

Recycling Collection (Backdoor)

  • Place LOOSE recyclables in the cart provided by Texas Pride Disposal, old recycle bins, or containers clearly labeled RECYCLE.
  • It is not necessary to pull the recycle containers down to the curb.
  • Recycle should be placed in a location between the street and garage, preferably near the garage. It must be clearly visible from the curb.
  • The lid on the new recycle cart says to place it curbside. That does not apply to our district. We have contracted for backdoor service and Texas Pride will collect recycle backdoor.
  • Emptied containers will be returned to where the crew finds them.
  • NEVER PLACE RECYCLE IN PLASTIC BAGS.  Recycle placed in plastic bags is not opened or separated.  It is simply removed from the stream and sent to the landfill as contamination.
  • Do not place plastic bags or Sytrofoam in the recycle cart.
  • Additional recycling carts can be purchased from Texas Pride Disposal for $75.00.
  • Recycle stickers for personal containers can be purchased for $5.00.
