Freezing Weather Notification

Winter weather and freezing temperatures are expected this week across Texas. The National Weather Service is forecasting widespread freezing temperatures on Friday and Saturday mornings. Residents should closely monitor media and the National Weather Service for updates to the forecast. We wanted to assure you that the teams at Inframark are monitoring and working diligently in preparation for a freezing weather event to safeguard your facilities. It is also important that you take action as well in protecting the “Four P’s”: People, pets, pipes and plants.

People

  • Keep warm, stay inside if possible.
  • If you need to go out, dress in layers and wear hats, gloves and an appropriate coat.
  • Avoid overexertion, as cold weather puts added strain on your body.

Pets

  • Bring pets inside, and move other animals or livestock to sheltered areas.
  • Keep adequate food and water available.

Pipes

  • Disconnect outdoor hoses, drain and store in protected area.
  • Wrap exposed faucets and pipes – including those outside the house or in unheated crawl spaces, attics, garages and other areas.

Plants

  • Bring potted plants inside or store in garage near interior wall to provide extra warmth and protection from wind.
  • For cold-sensitive outdoor plants, put down extra mulch and consider covering with a cloth fabric of some kind to shield the plants from wind and frost.

Additionally, if you have an irrigation system, turn off the water to the system at your backflow preventer and then drain the system so your irrigation pipes and sprinkler heads are not damaged.

Voluntary Water Use Restrictions Now in Place

Dear Customer,

Due to ongoing drought conditions, The North Harris County Regional Authority (NHCRWA) initiated Stage 1 water conservation measures. Because Cypress Forest PUD is located within the boundaries of the NHCRWA, we are required to initiate Stage 1 voluntary utility water conservation measures. The NHCRWA and Cypress Forest PUD may require mandatory water use restrictions if conditions worsen. Effective immediately, the following voluntary water use restrictions are in place:

Voluntary Water Use Restrictions Now in Place

  • District residents and other users of water within the District with even-numbered addresses will be asked to voluntarily limit use of water outdoors to Tuesdays and Saturdays.
  • District residents and other users of water within the District with odd-numbered addresses will be asked to voluntarily limit use of water outdoors to Wednesdays and Sundays.
  • Customers responsible for watering common areas such as esplanades and sports fields will be asked to voluntarily limit water use to Mondays and Fridays.
  • Users will be asked to voluntarily abstain from outdoor water use between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. (midnight)
  • Water Customers are requested to check for and repair all leaks, dripping faucets, and running toilets.

Thank you for your cooperation – Customers will be notified when these restrictions are no longer required or if conditions warrant additional conservation measures.

Demolition Scheduled at Former Raveneaux Country Club

On or about May 9, 2022, demolition will begin to remove all remaining structures on the former Raveneaux Country Club property now owned by the Harris County Flood Control District, including parking lots, tennis courts and swimming pool. The demolition will be completed using standard construction equipment, including excavators, skid steers, and tractor trailers. The demolition and removal of material will take the contractor approximately 35 to 40 days, weather permitting. For safety reasons, the Flood Control District asks that the public stay away from the demolition site.

In March 2022, teams from the Flood Control District also planted a tree and shrub buffer along Cypresswood Drive. Plantings included approximately 75 native pine, oak and other trees and more than 200 native evergreen shrubs, such as yaupon, wax myrtle and cherry laurel. The plantings will be maintained by the Flood Control District for the next two years.

Negotiations with Cypress Forest Public Utility District continue as to future plans for this property.

Update on Flood Mitigation Projects

R. Jack Cagle, Commissioner, Harris County Precinct 4:

As another hurricane season rushes by, I want you to know that Harris County and the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) continue to press ahead with dozens of flood mitigation projects throughout the county and here in Precinct 4. For information on flood control district projects in your area, please go to www.hcfcd.org./Activity/Active-Projects/Cypress-Creek. These projects and others proposed by the engineers at the HCFCD comprise just a part of the effort needed to reduce the risk of more catastrophic flooding like we have experienced with recent storms.
